St Mary & St Chad Pipe Organ

We have had good news about the restoration and repair of our historic pipe organ. In the present economic climate we realised that we would not be able to find the original quoted price for restoration. Therefore, taking advice from the organ builders and our organists, Jean Martyn and Dennis Cornes, we drew up a revised and modified specification of essential work.

We received five new quotes and have accepted one at a total of £35,000, including VAT. The work will be completed during the second half of 2011 and will ensure a fine working organ for at least 20 years.

Our organ appeal fund stands at £33,544, giving us a shortfall of about £2000. We are confident that we can raise this by the time work begins. If we can raise more, then we can add more work to the list.

Thank you so much to all who have made this possible. Any questions to Ian Careless (850829) or Rev. Marilyn Coulter (851168)

Pastoral Care Visiting in our Parishes.

A team of people from our four churches, forming ‘Christians Together in Brewood and Bishops Wood’, visit people who are lonely, housebound, living with illness etc. in their own homes We visit with people’s permission as often as needed; to be a listener and a friend.

The team also meet together every two months, to support each other and to pray. We have all had local training and we abide by the rules of confidentiality.

Until recently we held monthly coffee mornings in Church House. This had taken place for a number of years, but it seems that the meetings are no longer required. If this situation should change, please let us know.

If you would like a visit personally, or if you know someone who does, please contact the Vicar/Priest/Minister

whose names and numbers are listed on the back page of this Crosstalk magazine. Or if you would like to join our team, please also let us know. Thank you.

Celia Haes on behalf of our team.

Christians Together in Brewood and Bishops Wood

Do you know of anyone in our community who might appreciate a visit - perhaps because they are lonely, bereaved, housebound, suffering from serious illness, new to the area or have special needs?

Our group seeks to widen the help we, as Christians, can give pastorally to those in need in our community.

We act with the support of the four churches and visit on behalf of the priests and ministers. We listen and observe strict confidentiality.

If you know of some one in need please pass the details to Celia Haes (01785 840624)or to your own church priest or minister.
